Distribution and control apparatus

We build distribution and control apparatus to order. Boards, panels, motor control centres and the enclosures for them. Nothing here is a catalogue item. Every assembly is made to the electrical design for the installation it will sit in, and the design comes first.

What the apparatus does

Electricity arrives at a building or a site as a single supply and has to be divided among everything that uses it. Distribution apparatus performs that division. It also does three further things that matter more than the division itself: it protects each circuit against overload and fault current, it provides a means of isolating a circuit so that work can be done on it safely, and it gives an indication of what is on, what is off and what has tripped.

Control apparatus adds the switching, starting and stopping machinery, sequencing, interlocking and automation, so that plant operates in the order and under the conditions it is meant to.

Made to a specification

Apparatus of this kind is not a catalogue item. Each assembly is built to the electrical design for the installation it serves: the incoming supply characteristics, the prospective fault current, the number and rating of outgoing ways, the protective devices selected, the form of separation required, the ingress protection needed for where it will stand, and the physical space it has to occupy.

Get any one of those wrong and the assembly is not merely inconvenient: it may be unsafe or non-compliant. That is why the specification is settled in writing before anything is built.
